Dr. Chipty is an expert in industrial organization, antitrust economics, and econometrics. Her work spans both the areas of antitrust litigation and mergers and acquisitions. For example, she was Comcast’s antitrust damages expert in Behrend et al. vs. Comcast – a recent U.S. Supreme Court case in which the Justices dismissed the case against Comcast because of deficiencies in the plaintiffs’ damages model. She has studied the competitive effects of mergers and acquisitions, including Southwest Airlines/Airtran Airways, Alcatel/Lucent, Time Warner Cable and Comcast’s joint bid for Adelphia, and Televisa/ GSF Telecom Holdings, S.A.P.I. de C.V., which owns Grupo Iusacell, S.A. de C.V.   She currently serves as an advisor to the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission, evaluating competitive effects of health care transactions in the Commonwealth.  Dr. Chipty has submitted testimony, testified at trial and at deposition, and given presentations before various organizations and agencies, including the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice.  She is co-editor of forthcoming next edition of the American Bar Association’s book Proving Antitrust Damages. She has published academic research on the strategic use of vertical integration for market foreclosure, the role of firm size and network effects on bilateral business negotiations, and the effects of regulations on firm behavior. Dr. Chipty has served on the faculties of the Ohio State University, Brandeis University, and MIT, where she taught courses in antitrust and regulation, industrial organization, and econometrics. She received her Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Farah Hussain is a senior marketing manger at PayPal where she leads all marketing efforts for a team in Boston. Her past experience includes roles at Intuit Inc., Ocean Spray Cranberries, and Racepoint Global. In 2009, she was among less than 7% of US women MBA candidates to receive a Forte Foundation Fellowship. Two years later, she was the winner of the Nan Langowitz Women Who Make a Difference Award for her entrepreneurial contributions to MBA student career development at Babson College. Farah is currently the Boston site leader for eBay Women in Technology, and a mentor with the PayPal Start Tank, an incubator designed to accelerate the growth of the Boston start-up ecosystem. Farah has an MBA from Babson College and BA from Wellesley College.

Saba Wahid is a dedicated Food and Beverage professional.  She has made strides in the culinary media industry throughout the Middle East and South Asia. A seasoned industry personality, Saba has become a household name in the UAE market.  Initially as a host for Dubai’s premier Lifestyle program with her own cooking segment, then featured in several publications as a recipe and culinary content contributor, and additionally working as a moderator for food events throughout Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Focused on modern South Asian cuisine, Saba takes the best of Western technique along with Eastern flavors and creates a unique style of cooking that can be applied in the everyday kitchen as seen through her role as Brand Ambassador for Noor Oil. Saba’s focus has shifted to the US market where she brings her worldly expertise to light through her creative cooking ideas and original recipes. Saba has also recently taken on the position at Sur La Table, Copley Place as their Lead Culinary instructor

Asma Khalid is a reporter at Boston's NPR Station, WBUR. She came to Boston via Washington, D.C., where she was a producer for National Public Radio’s flagship show  Morning Edition. Before WBUR, Asma also worked as a freelancer, reporting stories for NPR’s Morning Edition and All Things Considered. She’s also reported for WUNC in Raleigh/Durham and WAMU in Washington, D.C. In 2010, Asma traveled to Pakistan to work as an independent reporter. She joined NPR’s Steve Inskeep to lead Morning Edition’s coverage from the region.

 

Her reporting has received a Gracie Award and accolades from the Religion Newswriters Association, as well as the Society of Environmental Journalists. Asma has a master’s in Middle East Studies and speaks Arabic and Urdu. When she isn’t in the newsroom, you can probably find her on the tennis court!

Fauzia Khan, MD, FCAP, Co-founder of Alere Analytics (formerly DiagnosisOne), currently serves as Chief Medical Officer and Head of Product Management, as well as Chief Medical Officer of Connected Health, Chair, Alere Medical Advisory Board and Chair, Healthcare Innovation Leadership. Dr. Khan is responsible for identifying innovative technologies, emerging evidence-based knowledge and new capabilities that can further advance company’s growth. She provides direction and leadership to develop practical and scalable technologies that allow Clinical Decision Support and Analytic capabilities to be seamlessly incorporated into clinical workflows to improve outcomes. Dr. Khan was instrumental in developing the company’s emerging technology products from Clinical Surveillance, INR Home Monitoring and Population Health Management.  She is experienced in leading healthcare IT organizations to achieve success by transforming the business model, and leading complex teams with diverse backgrounds and interests to align and collaborate to create value and achieve critical goals. She is recipient of several awards including Entrepreneur of the Year: High Tech Business from the Immigration Learning Center in 2014 and Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Award in 2012. Dr. Khan is a leading voice for mHealth, Population Management, Antimicrobial Stewardship and adopting new technologies that integrate across the continuum of care, and has published several thought leadership articles in US News & World Report, Becker’s Hospital Review and HealthITAnalytics. Prior to Alere Analytics, Dr. Khan was attending physician, and program director of Informatics, Department of Pathology at UMass Memorial Health Center, and an Assistant Clinical Professor and Director of Clinical Pathology Residency Program at UMass Medical School. She is also an author and chief editor of “Guide to Diagnostic Testing” a textbook on diagnostic algorithms published by Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins.

 

 

Sanam Agha

Entrepreneur, Fashion Designer and owner of Sanam

Sanam Agha, Karachi born, studied in England at Roedean, and onto Wimbledon Art College for her Foundation Course Art. She further studied at London College of Fashion, majoring in Pattern, Cut and Design - Menswear and Women’s-wear.

After working various jobs such as at Julien McDonald, Wilmington Publishers, Blue Events, studying fashion motivated her towards opening a business, but where was the question - Karachi or London? A small trip back to native Karachi, she tested the event management business in Karachi, Dubai and London, working with various embassies as well as in global promotion for Pakistan. The T.V business was next for her from hosting shows, VJing, directing, modeling, music videos and acting.

In 2009, she launched her fashion house SANAM through a solo fashion show, featuring 28 celebrities it was the first of its kind and has continued grow through various fashion weeks and shows The papers stated – Constantly evolving, Sanam Agha strikes one up for herself in this debut fashion show that confidently takes the Pakistani woman to Manhattan.

Her clients are worldwide, internationally and locally stemming from all walks of life being Hollywood or Wall Street, East or West, the brand caters to all. The vision is international but the workforce is proud to be homegrown and Pakistani. It's a new brand but it is spreading its wings far and all done by a single woman herself. Her brand has caused waves from its inception and continues to do so with its classic and unmatched flair.
